Fairly awful experience. For some reason he didn't file any of my state taxes for 4 of the 5 years I had paid him to do this. I only found out about this when the IRS sent me a letter 3 years later saying I owed $20k+ in unpaid taxes.
FIND SOMEONE ELSE!
Incredibly disappointed with this poor service and now I'm on the hook for $20k with the government.
That is correct, I didn't live in NYS at that time, I don't believe at any point I said, "don't file any state taxes" I just made it clear that I wasn't living in NYS at that time.
When I reached out to Irwin Gitlin, the response I got was; "we did what we were told" and when I pushed further as to why he didn't files them he said, "I spoke to the person in my office who worked on this and looked at the returns prepared. We were told not to do any new York returns because you were not a new York resident .the only year you were a new York resident was the last 8 months of 2013 for which u filed a return. We did federal returns for 2009 thru 2013."
